The unique white wines of Barsac - Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle
The clayey limestone soils of Barsac produce sweet white wines that use Sémillon as the main grape variety. These wines are similar to those produced in the neighboring Sauternes appellation. In addition to Sémillon, the Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grape varieties are also available here.
The particular microclimate of Barsac - Influence of Garonne and Ciron
Barsac is located near the mouth of the Garonne and the small river Ciron. In autumn, the coveted noble rot by Botrytis cinerea occurs here. This gives the wines their unique character.
