Domaine Armand Rousseau, a renowned Burgundy winery, is managed by Charles Rousseau, while his son Eric is responsible for the cellar. The estate extends in Gevrey-Chambertin.
The origins of the winery - Domaine Armand Rousseau
Armand Rousseau became a wine merchant very early and acted as a link between the winegrowers in Gevrey-Chambertin and the trading houses in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune
Expansion and success of the winery Domaine Armand Rousseau
In the 1930s, Raymond Baudoin recommended him to store some of the best wines and sell them under his own name. This led to exports to the USA. After Armand's death in 1959, Charles took over the estate and set his sights on expansion.
The wine production
Armand Rousseau produces exclusively Pinot Noir red wines. The old vines, some over 60 years old, contribute to their uniqueness. The grape blend includes 15% stems for additional tannins. The maceration lasts 15 days at controlled temperature, followed by 18-20 months in barrique.
