Sell Château Latour wines

Prestigious winery in the heart of the Bordeaux region

Château Latour is a prestigious winery in the heart of Bordeaux, France. Located in the Pauillac wine region, it is one of the famous "Premiers Crus Classés" of 1855. The estate has been family-owned since the 17th century and has a long tradition of producing high-quality wines.

Size and soil condition

Château Latour is located on an area of 77 hectares and has a vineyard area of around 50 hectares. The main grape varieties grown here are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The wines are blended from these grape varieties to bring out the best characteristics of each variety.

The vineyards of Château Latour are planted on a hilly landscape and benefit from the ideal conditions for viticulture offered by the microclimate and soil conditions. The soil is composed of gravel and shale and has a high permeability, which allows the roots of the vines to penetrate deep into the soil.

The history of Château Latour

The Château Latour winery was founded in the early 14th century and was originally a fortress to defend against attacks during the "Hundred Years War". The original tower no longer exists, but a round tower called La Tour de Saint-Lambert was built in the 17th century and serves as the winery's trademark. The history of the estate as one of the best in the world began in the late 17th century when the heir Alexandre de Ségur added Château Lafite and, together with Château Mouton and Château Calon, produced wines of great quality. In 1855, the estate was classified as one of the four Premier Cru estates and has had continuous success ever since. Over the years, the estate changed hands several times until it was bought by French businessman François Pinault in 1993. Due to its status as a Premier Cru estate, the estate cannot be sold to foreigners. The great vintages of Latour are famous for their longevity and reliability to produce great wines even in smaller years.

What exclusive wines are there from Château Latour?

Château Latour produces mainly red wines from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety, often combined with Merlot and Petit Verdot. The estate's wines are known for their longevity and reliability, as well as their concentrated and rich character. They are often given Premier Cru status and are subject to legal restrictions that they may not be sold to foreigners as "National Cultural Property".

Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most widespread and well-known red wine grape varieties in the world. It originates from Bordeaux, France and is now grown in many wine-growing regions around the world. Cabernet Sauvignon wines are characterised by their deep red colour, their high tannin and acid content, and their aromas of black fruits such as cassis, plum and blackcurrant. They also have typical aromas of green pepper, herbs and paprika. These wines are usually very full-bodied and long-lived and are well suited for ageing.

Merlot: Merlot is one of the most widely grown red wine varieties in Bordeaux and Château Latour. It is known for its soft texture, fruitiness and mild flavour. Merlot grapes ripen early and produce wines that are ready to drink quickly.

Cabernet Franc: Cabernet Franc is another important variety in Château Latour. It has a higher acidity than Merlot and often produces wines known for their tannins and aromas of paprika and pepper. Cabernet Franc often requires longer ageing than Merlot.

Petit Verdot: Petit Verdot is a rare variety at Château Latour and is often used as an admixture in Bordeaux blends. It has a high tannin and colour content and often produces wines known for their aromas of plum and pepper. Petit Verdot also has a high ageing potential.
